Before you continue to the next project after Simple House, make sure you have turned in a 100% video animation: 300 frames (10 seconds) of your Simple House spinning first one way, then the other.
You also need to get your output onto your Digital Portfolio's 3D Modelling page - you should have pictures and videos from Sketchup and Blender displayed and explained on your website!

Original Designs
Each of you will make one or more models in Sketchup to animate and maybe even 3D print! We will set some basic rules for starting off, but you are encouraged to explore your imagination and create unique "sculptures" that really show off your 3D modeling skills.
- VERY IMPORTANT: Start at the origin and keep the model centered there.
- No hexagons! Change the Polygon tool to any other number of sides by typing #S and Enter.
- Pull along the red or green axis - it makes it a lot easier for advanced techniques later.
- Make your first "pull" out to make the initial shape 6' (six feet) so that everyone's scale is similar
- Create a solid (3" to 6") base as a support, changing the shape from 2D to 3D.
- Models with less overall volume print faster, use less filament, and are more likely to be printed.
- Keep your person-model around for a while to show the sense of scale; imagine this sitting outside a museum... she is NOT allowed into Blender, however, so delete her before exporting the Collada (DAE) file.
- VERY IMPORTANT: Finish and save an "UNPAINTED" version before starting on a "PAINTED" one
- Watch out for those reversed faces - they will ruin the animation! Catch and fix them early.
- Have fun, be creative, try to make something unique!

Advanced Sketchup Tools
You should explore other tools in Sketchup to create even more amazing 3D sculptures. Using the tools demonstrated in the videos below will not only make your animation even more impressive, but will improve the odds that your 3D-printable model WILL be 3D printed.
